Minn. Delegates Raving About Palin's Speech
ST. PAUL (WCCO) ―
Minnesota delegates are still raving about Gov. Sarah Palin's speech last night before the convention and 37 million people watching at home.
Rep. Michele Bachmann said, "She hit it out of the park, Esme, she raised the roof tonight. You could feel the electricity from one end of this arena to the other end of the Xcel."
Tom Steward, a regional spokesman for the McCain campaign, said the speech exceeded expectations.
"I think she touched, you know, every question about her and I think she she answered them, but I think she went beyond that by connecting with people where they live," Steward said.
At a breakfast for the Minnesota delegation, Rep. Jim Ramstad, whose views are more moderate than many Republicans said, "I thought the hockey mom scored a hat trick. I thought it was a tremendous speech, a refreshing speech, a real breath of fresh air."
A number of delegates said by contrast, the McCain speech will be anti-climactic. Several delegates said all McCain has to do is not make mistakes and appear presidential.
