The Russian ambassador to the United States will be in Minneapolis on Monday to present an award to one of the founding officials of The Museum of Russian Art.
Ambassador Sergey Kislyak will confer the Order of Friendship on Bradford Shinkle IV. Shinkle was the museum's first president when it was organized in 2000 and served until 2007.
Museum Director Judi Dutcher says the award recognizes Shinkle's efforts in promoting Russian art and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The order is considered one of the most prestigious awards a foreign citizen can receive from the Russian government. The museum's founder, Raymond Johnson, received it from former Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2006.
