Tri-County Electric Cooperative in Rushford has been granted more than $1.3 million in federal money to help rebuild its headquaarters, which sustained millions of dollars in damage from August flooding in southeastern Minnesota.
The money comes from the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency and was announced by Senator Norm Coleman.
Tri-County Electric president and CEO Brian Krambeer said the co-op had about $6 million in flooding damage to its one-story brick building and contents.
Krambeer says water levels reached 3.5 feet on the main floor, completely saturating the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system, drywall, electrical system, office furniture and cabinets. The basement was fully flooded, saturating all cinder block walls, office furniture and the facility's main electrical components.
