Son Arrested After Body Found In Rochester Hotel

ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) ― Rochester police say a 41-year-old Canadian man has been arrested in the death of his father, whose body was found in a downtown hotel.

The Police Department says it recovered the body about 8 a.m. Friday after receiving a call from a relative in Canada concerned about the victim's safety.

Captain Brian Winters says the death seems to have been caused by a physical assault, but he declined to give further details. The death is being treated as a homicide.

A relative of the man told police the son would be a likely suspect. The son was arrested without incident about 9 a.m. on the Mayo Clinic campus.

Winters says the two men were in Rochester in connection with medical treatment, but he would not say who was being treated for what.

Also, Winters says the men were residents of Canada but he had no specific information about where they lived there.
