RNC Protester Admits Tossing Road Sign

ST. PAUL (AP) ― A Texas man has received a 15-month sentence after reaching a plea deal on charges he helped toss a road sign from a bridge during the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul.

Bradley Neil Crowder, 23, of Austin, Texas, pleaded guilty Monday to a felony terroristic threat charge in Ramsey County. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped a charge of aiding and abetting second-degree assault, which carries a maximum seven years in prison.

Crowder will serve the sentence concurrently with his two-year federal sentence for possessing Molotov cocktails during the convention.

Crowder was among three protesters charged with throwing the sign off the bridge on Sept. 1, 2008. The sign landed three feet from a Philadelphia police officer working the convention.

More than 800 people were arrested in connection to protesting the RNC in St. Paul.
