Renville County officials are trying to raise $10,000 to post a billboard for a month along a Twin Cities freeway touting the rural lifestyle.
Photographers have already taken pictures of elementary school students from Bird Island, Buffalo Lake and Stewart smiling and waving while standing on the main streets of their town. Officials hope to mount the pictures on billboards to entice Twin Cities residents stuck in traffic along Interstate 394 to consider a move out west.
John Hubin, publisher of several weekly newspapers in the area, says the area about 90 miles west of the Twin Cities is ideally suited for relocation by Twin Cities business owners looking for a less hectic pace.
