The last major North Dakota community along the Red River before it enters Canada is still waiting for high water. But no one seems ready to evacuate as a precaution.
Mayor Warren Hillukka told residents this week that if the river rises above 53.6 feet, the community of about 650 people could become an island. He says he wants to make sure they have enough time to get out.
But the mayor says it "doesn't sound like anyone is going anywhere."

The river level at 5 a.m., Wednesday about 45 feet. Forecasters said the projection over the next seven days was a gradual rise to 51.8 feet on April 7, but because it's so far north, it's too early for a crest forecast.
