Projected Fargo River Crest Drops To 36 Feet
FARGO, N.D. (AP) ―
The projection for the Red River's second major crest at Fargo continues to fall.
The new estimate out Wednesday afternoon is 35.5 to 36 feet. That's a foot to a foot-and-a-half lower than the number just a day earlier.
And even though 36 feet is well above flood stage, it's a level city officials have said isn't a problem for their dikes.
At one point the National Weather Service had said the Red's second crest might be even higher than the nearly 41 feet that gave dikes in Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., a stiff test last month.
