Police: 5 Arrested In Rash Of 'U' Robberies

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― Minneapolis Police said they have arrested five people they believe are responsible for the recent rash of armed robberies and purse snatchings in Minneapolis.

Police said four Somali adults and one Somali teenager were taken into custody after a woman's bag was taken from her Tuesday night. She saw the license plate of the getaway car and was able to tell it to police.

Officers located the car and found the woman's stolen belongings inside.

Police said they believe the same robbers may be responsible for the at least half-dozen muggings near the University of Minnesota.

University police said one of the victims on campus claimed one of the suspects attempted to rape her.

All five suspects are currently being held.
