Man Gets Probation For Throwing Puppy Off Balcony

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) ― A St. Paul man will spend two years on probation for throwing a 5-month-old pit bull off a balcony.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County Court, 22-year-old Quincy Lee Morrow said on Nov. 28 he accidentally dropped the 5-month-old pit bull off a second-story apartment balcony in Maplewood when the dog bit his hand.

The dog sustained multiple fractures and had to be put to sleep.

Police who looked at Morrow's hand said they couldn't find any bite marks, and a veterinarian who examined the pit bull doesn't think it bit anyone.

Morrow was convicted on felony animal cruelty charges. As part of his probation, Morrow must attend mental health counseling and take a parenting class.

Morrow's felony conviction will be discharged at the end of his probation as long as he follows its terms. At that point, his felony conviction will be downgraded to a misdemeanor.
