Driver Killed In Olivia Explosion Identified

OLIVIA, Minn. (AP) ― Authorities have identified the driver who was killed when a propane truck caught fire on the western edge of Olivia, Minn.

The State Patrol identifies him as 44-year-old Brad M. Ripley of Mankato.

The Patrol says Ripley's truck was turning from Highway 212 onto Highway 71 when it overturned, caught fire and exploded around 7:20 a.m. Sunday. The accident remains under investigation.

Witnesses told WCCO-AM that flames could be seen from a distance and that the explosion shook some buildings in the area.

Part of Highway 71 was blocked Sunday morning at the scene of the fire.

Olivia is located about 97 miles west of Minneapolis.
