A Winona foundry has paid a $70,000 penalty for alleged air pollution violations.
In addition, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency said, Badger Foundry has made several changes in its operation to ensure future compliance with environmental regulations.
MPCA staff said they documented violations of Badger Foundry's air emissions permit. The agency said the company failed to install and operate a fabric filter to control emissions from the plant. In addition, the foundry failed to complete several actions outlined in its compliance schedule.
The MPCA said Badger Foundry has taken all steps needed to bring its facility back into compliance.
