Police Injure Suspect In Minneapolis Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ―
Minneapolis Police shot a man in South Minneapolis Thursday night after an officer and the man exchanged gunfire.
Just after 10 p.m., police received two calls about a fight near 39th Street East and Portland Avenue South. One of the callers told police they overheard someone in the group that was fighting mention a gun.
When officers arrived, a large group of people scattered. As officers got out of one of the squad cars, they said a man fired at them. One of the two officers in the car fired at the suspect, hitting him in the arm.
The suspect, Anthony Brown, 29, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The police officers were not injured and have been placed on paid administrative leave for three days, which is standard procedure.
Police found two handguns at the scene after the shooting.
