Police Find Missing Elderly Woman Safe

(WCCO) Police have found the elderly woman with dementia, who went missing around 2 p.m. Saturday.

Evelyn Jean Madsen was found with her dog safe and sound in a wooded area around 9:45 a.m., according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Department.

She was last seen Saturday night, by her neighbors, out walking her dog around 2 p.m., but did not return home.

She was found about a half of a mile away from any roadway near a small lake sitting in the grass with her dog, Fred, more than a mile from her home.

Several search and rescue dogs, along with several search crews, were called in to help the search. Police are also on ATV and horseback searching for Madsen.

The Madsen family wanted to publicly thank the nearly 100 volunteers who helped locate Evelyn and Fred.
