Funerals are being held Friday and Saturday for two church youth group leaders who drowned while rescuing a boy struggling in Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids.
A funeral for 63-year-old Albert Hermiston, who goes by Herm, will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Assembly of God church in Grand Rapids. Thirty-year-old Nathan Junker's funeral will be at the same church Saturday at 10 a.m.
The two were working with youth from First Baptist Church on Sunday when they came to the aid of a boy who got caught up in turbulent water. First Baptist Church says in a statement that Hermiston gave up his life vest and put it on the boy. After rescuing the boy, the two men were swept away from shore and went under water.
The funerals are being held at Assembly of God because it can accommodate more people.
