Mpls Peace Concert To Remember Casals

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― The late Spanish cellist and peace activist Pablo Casals will be remembered with a concert in Minneapolis.

"Remembering Pablo Casals: A Concert for Peace" will be held Saturday and Sunday at Plymouth Congregational Church.

Casals died in 1973. He was born in Catalonia, a region of northeast Spain, and went into exile, vowing never to return to Spain after General Francisco Franco won the Spanish Civil War.

Cellist James David Jacobs from New York City and Minnesota violinist Bill Panks are featured performers at the concert. Panks will perform an original work.

The concert is sponsored by Women Against Military Madness.
