Pawlenty, Passed Over, Praises McCain Choice

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) ― Governor Tim Pawlenty says he thinks John McCain made an "outstanding, terrific" pick in choosing Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Pawlenty was one of a few finalists. He says McCain called him this morning to tell him his decision.

Pawlenty says he's honored to have been considered. He says he never saw the post as something he needed.

He says his focus now is on his last two years as governor, and he's given no thought to a Cabinet post if McCain wins.

Pawlenty says he'll decide early next year if he's going to run for a third term in 2010.
