A new segment of the Paul Bunyan State Trail is complete and open to the public.
The state Department of Natural Resources said the trail now is paved on the 11.5 miles between Bemidji and Guthrie. It mainly follows the old Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad line.
The Guthrie to Walker segment is to be done in the next two years.
Also, future trail and bridge work will have to be done in the southern part of Bemidji and in Crow Wing State Park to complete the entire 110 miles of the trail.
-------
In 2006, the final link connecting Crow Wing State Park to the Paul Bunyan State Trail is complete after the transfer of a small strip of land along the Mississippi River.
