Styx, Gretchen Wilson Play At Minneapolis Venues
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ―
The Republican National Convention parties continued into early Wednesday morning after the delegates finished their convention activities Tuesday night.
The biggest party of all was at the Depot in Minneapolis, and the night of big musical entertainment kicked off at Trocaderos in Minneapolis.
It was a Texas-honky-tonk starring country music stars Gretchen Wilson, John Rich and Cowboy Troy.
"I'm so excited," said party guest Janelle Reid. "It's going to be really be fun to be in a small venue because I've seen them in the Xcel and seeing them at the Xcel, it's kind of impersonal. This will be really exciting to see them up close and really get a good show."
Unlike the AT&T sponsored show, the Minnesota Agri-Growth Council welcomed the media and more than 4,000 other guests inside with open arms.
"We did want to have a large gathering," said Agri-Growth Council President Daryn McBeth. "We wanted to invite all the news media who are in town, and many delegates, and elected officials and our own stakeholders of the industry."
Partiers munched on showcased Minnesota-grown food and sipped on Minnesota vodka.
Meantime, hometown bands Mick Sterling and Lamont Cranston warmed up the revelers for the main attraction, 80s rock band Styx.
The band Daughtry will perform Wednesday night at Epic nightclub and the Charlie Daniels Band will play at the Depot.
