H.S. Pitcher Named 'No Hit Kid' After Perfect Games

(WCCO) In the towns of Eden Valley and Watkins, baseball is truly America's past-time.

On the high school field the grass is always green and always manicured. So it seems right that here, a pitcher nicknamed the "No-hit Kid" has been flirting with state history.

"I try to locate my fastball to start off with, then if that's good, go with my curve ball -- a little change-up every now and then," said pitcher Tyler Geislinger.

Geislinger is a junior lefthander and he is as modest as he is good. Two weeks ago he threw a no-hitter, days later he threw another one, days after that … a third.

"There was just a lot of enthusiasm. I mean, just the excitement in the dugout --  the chatter, everything else -- you could just feel that something special was happening," said Tyler's Coach Mike Tomsche.

Last Thursday, Tyler had a chance to throw his fourth no-hitter in a row which would have tied a more than 40-year-old state record. He came within two innings of that record before a bloop single ended it.

"When that hit came off and it came right to me in right field. So, I was just like dang it, I guess we can't do anything about it now," said Tyler's cousin and outfielder, Matt Geislinger.

But with 65 strikeouts in 37 innings and only a junior, it isn't out of the question that Tyler can make another run at the record.

"He has very good mechanics and he's just one of those kids that is a winner and finds a way to win," said Tomsche.

Tyler's near-historic run caught the attention of the Twins. They had a scout at one of his games.

Tyler said he hasn't decided if he will play baseball or football in college. He is also quarterback for the football team which qualified for the state tournament last fall.

Eden Valley-Watkins' baseball team is seeded number one in their sub-section and currently ranked in state.
