Musty Taste And Smell Returns To Minneapolis Water
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ―
A musty taste has returned to the drinking water in Minneapolis and some of its surrounding suburbs, but officials say it doesn't present a health problem.
Minneapolis Water Plant Operations Superintendent Chris Catlin is calling it "some seasonal taste and odor issues" that tend to come around this time of year.
He expects it to last another six weeks.
It's a phenomenon that usually happens after the snow melts in the spring, but officials really don't know why it happened last summer.
Catlin says residents can reduce the problem taste and odor by storing water in a clean glass container in the refrigerator because the cold dulls the taste buds and keeps the odor from vaporizing out the water.
