MSP Airport Starts Streamlined Security Check

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― Call it a "sane lane" for air travelers.

Starting Friday, travelers who know the security drill can choose their own lane at one of the checkpoints at Twin Cities Airport.

Fliers will have three options -- a lane for the expert business traveler or frequent flier, a second lane for "casual" passengers, and a third for families. The program is voluntary.

The Transportation Security Administration is trying to make the trip through security more efficient. The new approach was tested at airports in Denver and Salt Lake City, and has rolled out to airports nationwide.

At the Twin Cities Airport, the first checkpoint offering the three-lane approach is at the far right end of the Lindbergh Terminal's ticketing level as you enter from the parking ramps.
