Construction of the planned Central Corridor light-rail line will be pushed back several months to late summer 2010, partly due to noise concerns raised by Minnesota Public Radio.
Project director Mark Fuhrmann said the line connecting Minneapolis and St. Paul is still projected to open sometime in 2014.
Officials with the Federal Transit Administration told local officials that MPR's concerns that train noise would disrupt their studios in downtown St. Paul must be addressed before moving forward.
The radio station wants assurances that measures to curb noise and train vibrations will work.
The delay is also partly due to a Federal Transit Administration request that local officials give them more information about how they plan to pay for the project.
The Federal Transit Administration is paying for half of the $915 million project.
