Man Steals Motorcycle, Turns Self In

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) ― Grand Forks police say a Red Lake Falls, Minn., man turned himself in after stealing a motorcycle from a Harley-Davidson dealership.

The culprit is identified as 20-year-old Matthew Tongen. He's been charged with burglary, theft of an $18,000 motorcycle and possession of a sawed-off shotgun.

Authorities say Tongen tried to shoot open a side door early Sunday. When that failed, he broke the glass in a main door and took off with the motorcycle.

He left his car and shotgun at the dealership.

Police say Tongen returned a couple of hours later and surrendered to investigators on the scene.

He posted $1,500 bail and was released Monday.
