4 Killed In Weekend Motorcycle Accidents In Minn.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― At least four people died in three separate motorcycle crashes in Minnesota over the weekend.

On Saturday, 45-year-old David Thoele, of Cologne, and his passenger, 50-year-old Mary Lofquist, of Watertown, died after the State Patrol says he misjudged a curve in Delano and they slid under a pickup truck.

The Patrol says 36-year-old Herbert Martin, of Brooklyn Park, died after he lost control while switching lanes on Highway 610 near Highway 252 in Brooklyn Park.

On Sunday, the Patrol says, 29-year-old Ryan R. Erdman, of Plymouth, died after hitting the bumper of an SUV while changing lanes on Interstate 94 in Rogers.

Police data show that motorcycle accidents are at their highest level in Minnesota in 17 years. In 2007, there were more than 1,600 accidents in the state involving motorcycles.
