Missing St. Paul Bicyclist Found In Hospital

ST. PAUL (AP) ―

St. Paul police have found a missing bicyclist -- in a hospital.

Sixty-four-year-old Carl Eckstrand of St. Paul was hospitalized as a "John Doe" patient.

Eckstrand left his home last Sunday for a bike ride. Friends reported him missing when he missed several appointments, and a search was begun.

Investigators later got a call from a person who had watched a news report about the missing man and believed Eckstrand had been admitted to a hospital as a John Doe after a serious bike accident in Mendota Heights.

Family members went to the hospital and positively identified the man as Eckstrand.
