Minn. Exports Up 6.5 Percent In 2007

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― Exports of goods manufactured in Minnesota grew by nearly $1 billion in 2007, though the state's gain was less than the overall gain for the U.S.

The state Department of Employment and Economic Development says exports reached a record $16.2 billion -- a 6.5 percent increase from the previous year. Nationally, exports rose 10.4 percent in 2007 to about $1 trillion.

Russia, Canada, the Philippines and Germany increased their spending on Minnesota products by at least $100 million.

Canada is Minnesota's largest export partner with $4.3 billion in sales last year.
