President Bush signed the energy bill this week, but Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota said there's a lot she doesn't like about the new law.
The 6th District representative said the bill doesn't contain any new energy. She said while the bill focuses on increased use of biofuels to replace petroleum, she would have liked to encourage more exploration for oil in gas in the U.S.
With the price of crude oil nearly doubling since the start of 2007, Bachmann said the U.S. needs to look for more oil within it's own borders.
Bachmann also thinks new mileage restrictions are too tough on the struggling U.S. auto industry. The law calls for a 40 percent increase in the average amount of miles-per-gallon delivered by cars and trucks produced in the U.S. -- to 35 mpg by 2025.
