Meth Lab Uncovered Near Hammond, Minn.

(WCCO) Wabasha County investigators searched a rural home on Friday, about one mile north of Hammond, Minn. They said it was the first lab they had seen in about 1 1/2 years.

Police said they arrested a 38-year-old man and a 32-year old woman at the home. They also found several items used in the manufacturing of Methamphetamine, in addition to some of the drug itself.

Two children were also found at the home and have been placed into protective care, according to police.

"It appears like we could be seeing a trend of a few years ago, that more labs are going into operation. The Task Forces across the state having been focusing on the importation of meth the last couple of years, and now people are starting to make it around the region again," said Sheriff Rodney Bartsh.

Southeastern Minnesota Narcotics Task Force officers and Fillmore County detectives assisted in the case.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Monday.
