Sauk Rapids Man Run Over By Train Identified

SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) ― Authorities have identified the Sauk Rapids man who survived being hit by a train.

Police say 30-year-old Christopher Daniel Gilhoi was laying between the tracks in Sauk Rapids late Saturday night when a southbound train near First Street and Railroad Avenue ran him over. He was able to talk to firefighters and emergency personnel while they worked to remove him from under the locomotive.

Police say the train was moving at about 23 miles per hour when it hit Gilhoi.

Gilhoi told police he was walking home at the time. On Monday, police say Gilhoi also told them he had been drinking before the incident and he didn't intend to get hit.
