WI Postal Carrier Killed In Crash
(WCCO)
A Wisconsin postal carrier lost control of her car and slid into the path of another vehicle Wednesday, the Polk County Sheriff's Department said.
Patricia Ward, 29, of rural Osceola, Wis., was driving southbound on State Highway 87 in St. Croix Falls, Wis., just before 4:30 p.m. when the accident occurred.
Police said Ward was sitting in the passenger's seat of her 2004 Dodge Neon when she lost control of her car and slid sideways into the path of a northbound 2001 Dodge half-ton truck driven by James Morrissette, 61, of rural Centuria, Wis.
Ward was pronounced dead at the scene and Morrissette was taken to St. Croix Regional Medical Center and later transferred to a Twin Cities hospital for additional treatment. There was no word on his condition.
Police said it was snowing at the time of the accident and roads were snow covered and slippery.
