St. Paul Woman Hires Famed Pet Sleuths To Find Dog

St. Paul (WCCO) ― A St. Paul woman loves her missing German shepherd so much, she hired a national pet detective to help find the dog.

Karin Chockley-Goin's company Pet Detectives, Inc. is based in Oklahoma but she travels across the country. She recently did some detective work searching for Vivi, a Whippet from the Westminster Dog Show in New York, N.Y. whose disappearance gained national attention.

On Monday, Chockley-Goin was hoping her specially trained dogs would pick up the scent of Allie, a 19-month-old German shepherd that has been missing from her St. Paul home for nearly four weeks.

Allie's owner, Renee Kohler, hired the national firm because she couldn't find any local full time pet detectives in the Twin Cities.

The company charges a $750 daily fee plus travel expenses. Kohler justified the price, saying she is confident she is spending less on the search company than most people spend on fast food.

"Sometimes you can't put a price on certain things. I'm not willing to be astronomical and crazy but you know I think what I did was fare and I'm comfortable with it and I think that's the main thing," said Kohler, who hired the Pet Detectives to search the area again on Tuesday.
