New Law Mandates CO Detectors In New Homes
Minneapolis (AP) ―
The death of a Minnesota teen who was overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning happened just weeks before a law goes into effect designed to protect people from the deadly gas.
Effective New Year's Day, all new Minnesota houses are mandated to have carbon monoxide detectors.
The law was prompted by the death several years ago of three-year-old Hannah Griggs of Oronoco, Minn.
Just last week, 17-year-old Andrew Carlson of North Branch, Minn., died of carbon monoxide poisoning after he and his family moved into a new home that did not have a phone or carbon monoxide detectors.
Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include nausea, headache, dizziness and fatigue.
