You won't find "Lake Wobegon County" anywhere on a map of Minnesota. But if a state senator has her way, some Minnesotans may one day be living in an area named after Garrison Keillor's fictional hometown.
DFL Sen. Tarryl Clark of St. Cloud is introducing a bill Tuesday that would combine all of Stearns and Benton counties and the northern part of Sherburne County.
The bill will use the draft name of "Lake Wobegon," but it suggests residents ultimately would determine the name.
Clark said one unified county would be more efficient and cost effective, increase job opportunities, and reduce hassles in residents' lives.
