Man Missing From Boat On Lake Minnetonka

ORONO, Minn. (AP) ― The search continues for a man missing from a boat on Lake Minnetonka.

A spokeswoman for the Hennepin County sheriff's office says the 41-year-old man and two friends were in their motorboat near Spring Park around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, when the man and a woman jumped into the water. She made it back to the boat, but he did not.

Two people who live in the area on Spring Park Bay called 911 to report they heard a person yelling for help. About five minutes later, the woman who made it back to the boat also called 911.

The area where the man went missing is about 100 yards offshore, and the water is about 18 to 24 feet deep.

A State Patrol helicopter searched the area Sunday morning. The county Water Patrol brought in dive teams and boats with side-scanning sonar.
