Sen. Klobuchar Asks Commerce To Examine Air Merger

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― Senator Amy Klobuchar wants hearings on how travelers would be affected by airline mergers now in discussion.
  
Delta Air Lines is in talks with both Northwest Airlines and United Airlines about a possible tieup.
  
Klobuchar, a Minnesota Democrat, is asking both the Senate Commerce Committee and a subcommittee on aviation to look into the possible mergers.
  
Klobuchar says she's concerned that mergers will hurt the economies in Minnesota and elsewhere. She says they also may lead to reduced service to air travelers.
