A deer hunter came across human remains in northwestern Minnesota during last weekend during the opening of the firearms deer season.
The Becker County sheriff's office said the hunter found the remains Saturday evening about 30 miles east of Detroit Lakes.
The remains are believed to be of a person who died two to five years ago. Authorities said the victim died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and foul play was not suspected.
The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was working on Monday to identify the remains.
