The small but potent Minnesota House Republican caucus hopes to settle on a new leader Tuesday.
The 47 members are deciding who will replace Rep. Marty Seifert,
who's giving up the minority leader post to devote more time to a run
for governor.
At least two members are in the running. They are fourth-term Reps.
Kurt Zellers of Maple Grove and Rep. Randy Demmer of Hayfield. Other
members could throw their names in during the evening meeting.
The minority leader is the public voice of the caucus and its representatives in high-level negotiations.
Democrats hold 87 of the 134 House seats, but Republicans have joined together to sustain Gov. Tim Pawlenty's vetoes.
