Southern Minn. Hog Farm Damaged In Fire

WALDORF, Minn. (AP) ― Authorities are trying to determine the cause of a fire at a southern Minnesota hog farm.

Several barns caught fire late Sunday night near Waldorf. At least one barn was razed and several more appeared at least partly damaged.

Authorities say the fire burned for several hours. The North Mankato Fire Department and many other agencies responded.

The facility is owned by New Fashion Pork, which has its headquarters in Jackson.

Because of the Labor Day holiday, official information was unavailable. The cause of the fire is unknown.

On July 16, a fire destroyed 1,200 pigs and two barns at Superior Pork, also near Waldorf. In that fire, about 20 fire departments and 100 firefighters responded.
