Suspect In Hockey Fan Fight Posts Bail

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) ― Court officials say a man facing an assault charge stemming from a fight among fans after a weekend North Dakota-Minnesota hockey game has been released after posting $1,000 cash bond.

University of North Dakota police said 28-year-old Peter Chwialkowski, of Oslo, Minn., was arrested late Friday night.

Authorities said Jason Smith, of Grand Forks, was punched as he was leaving the hockey arena after the Friday night game. Police say they found the 34-year-old Smith unconscious on the ground. He remained hospitalized in serious condition Monday.

According to the Grand Forks Herald, Czapiewski said Chwialkowski will appear in state district court Monday in Grand Forks on the felony charge. No one else has been arrested in the incident, but the investigation isn't complete, the police chief said.
