Deaf Woman Still Critical After Hit-And-Run

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (AP) ― The Apple Valley woman who was injured in a hit-and-run accident remains in critical condition at a Minneapolis hospital.

Authorities say Joan LeVasseur was walking across a street in Apple Valley on Friday evening when a vehicle struck her and kept going.

She was transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center and was still listed in critical condition on Sunday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

LeVasseur's family says they are hoping whoever was responsible for the accident comes forward. Several witnesses saw the hit-and-run, but police say no one was able to get a license plate number for the vehicle.

Police say the vehicle is likely to have fresh front-end damage from the crash.
