Historic House Moved In Maple Grove Overnight

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (WCCO) ― A historic home was hitched up to a truck and moved two miles in Maple Grove, Minn. overnight.

The historic Bottineau House was moved to its new permanent location at Elm Creek Park Reserve. The move was only about two miles from the trip's origin at the Maple Grove Public Works Facility.

The home was built in the mid-1800s, and belonged to pioneer and businessman Pierre Bottineau, who helped supply Fort Ripley and ran scouting missions in North Dakota. He was also one of the founders of Red Lake Falls and Osseo.

The cottage was discovered as crews began surveying the area for a new Highway 610 corridor in Maple Grove.

Bottineau died in 1895.
