A new museum in southern Minnesota is helping residents and visitors remember a former Green Giant vegetable plant.
The Green Giant Memorabilia Museum in Blue Earth celebrated its official opening last week and is now welcoming visitors.
The museum features a mural with the giant and his signature "Ho Ho Ho." The collection includes Green Giant-themed toys, pins and other items. A video shows visitors how corn and pea-packing used to work at the plant.
Lowell Steen, a local resident who once worked for Green Giant, started collecting company memorabilia in 1986. He recently approached the area chamber of commerce and city about building a museum and agreed to donate his collection.
The former Green Giant plant in Blue Earth now operates as Seneca Foods.
