While many Duluth residents welcome the runners in Grandma's Marathon, some dread the nervous bladders it brings to their yards each June.
Take the Igo family. The live on a wooded lot near the start of the half-marathon, and they're tired of seeing runners urinating in the trees next to their driveway.
It's an issue that race organizers take seriously. They urge runners to stay out of private property and use the hundreds of portable restrooms provided.
Race officials may even disqualify runners caught in the act.
Grandma's public relations director Bob Gustafson says there's not much else they can do because it's up to runners to obey the rules.
He says when the race starts Saturday, there will be 205 portable restrooms at the start of the full marathon, and 115 at the start of the half and 60 along the course.
