Girl, 17, Killed In Crash Near Cottonwood

COTTONWOOD, Minn. (WCCO) ― A 17-year-old girl was killed near Cottonwood, Minn. after another woman rear-ended her car on a state highway Wednesday night, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

Morgan Cline, 17, was driving south on Highway 23 north of Cottonwood around 9 p.m. when her Saturn was struck from behind by a Subaru Forester.

Cline, of Kandiyohi, Minn., was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said she was wearing her seatbelt. A passenger in her car, Dustin Woodworth, 18, of Marshall, Minn., was taken to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall with non-life threatening head injures.

The driver of the Subaru, Courtney Voorhees, 29, sustained internal injuries in the crash and was taken to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. The State Patrol said alcohol was detected in her system and she was not wearing a seatbelt.
