Despite Fair Request You'll Pay More To Pig Out

(WCCO) Minnesota State Fair organizers asked the vendors, who bring fairgoers everything from pronto pups to caramel apples, to not raise prices. But an informal survey of food vendors at the Fair found that many will be raising their prices a small amount.

George Wozniak owns two Fresh French Fries stands.

"Our potato costs are 115 percent higher than last year," he said.

Wozniak will be raising the price 25 cents on his two smaller servings of fries, but the bigger buckets will stay the same.

"I've been out here 35 years doing this and we've never seen cost increases from suppliers like we have had this year. Not even close," Wozniak said.

At the Peg Diner, some breakfast prices will go up 10 cents.

"I don't think there's a product that we had last year that didn't go up," said Owner Greg Auge.

There is some good news for fairgoers. Admission prices, Midway tickets and some shows like the rodeo won't be going up.

And some vendors, like Granny's Apples in the Food Building, won't hike prices despite some big cost increases.

"I think that's all people can afford," said Vendor Georgine Dowell.

Now there are ways to save at the fair. You can buy the $5 Blue Ribbon Book with all kind of deals and coupons.
