Energy is shaping up as a major issue in the race between Republican Michele Bachmann and Democrat Elwyn Tinklenberg in Minnesota's 6th District.
Bachmann is pushing to force a vote on legislation that would open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling within about two years.
The first-term representative has recently visited an offshore oil rig near New Orleans and energy sites in Alaska and Colorado. She says tapping more homegrown energy supplies will cut prices.
Tinklenberg is criticizing Bachmann's focus on drilling as he visits energy sites in the 6th District, including a commuter park-and-ride and a wind turbine manufacturer.
He says conservation and developing new sources of energy will do more to bring prices down.
