Descendants Oppose Duluth Window Sale Plan

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) ― Some descendants of the Duluth woman who designed a historic Tiffany window don't want the city to sell it.
  
Mary Ann Barnett of Fridley says it would be "a travesty" to sell the artwork, which depicts a fictional American Indian princess.
  
Barnett is a grand-grandchild of Anne Weston, who designed the window in the late 1800s. With the city facing a budget shortfall, the Duluth City Council has voted to put the 115-year-old stained-glass window up for sale.
  
City Councilor Jay Fosle proposes postponing the sale until at least Dec. 21 to allow local bidders time to keep the window in the city.
  
But Duluth Mayor Don Ness says if the council passed that resolution, it would "undercut" the city's ability to market the window.
