DNR Restricts Burning In South St. Louis County

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― The Department of Natural Resources is restricting burning in south St. Louis County.

The DNR says the restrictions are meant to curb the chance that the burning of yard debris could lead to spring wildfires. DNR fire protection manager Olin Phillips says residents should use alternative methods of debris disposal, such as recycling or composting.

The restrictions are in place for all areas south of County Road 16 in the northeastern Minnesota county.

The DNR previously restricted burning in several other counties, including Aitkin, Becker, Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Crow Wing, eastern Polk, Otter Tail and Wadena counties.
