Deputy On Leave After Shooting At Home

NEW MARKET TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) ― A Scott County deputy is on paid leave after a shooting inside a house.

According to the Scott County Sheriff's Office, dispatch received a call of a fight at a home in New Market Township at about 5 p.m. Sunday.

When a deputy arrived at the home, no one let him inside. The people who live there say he broke through the front door.

Officials say when the deputy entered he saw a man with a gun, so he fired. No one was injured but there were five bullet holes in the home.

A person at the home on Monday night said officers should have gone to a different house on the property where someone else lives.
